How to use it

4 simple steps.

  1. 01

    Enter the book

Type its length, how much you have already heard, and your playback speed.

  2. 02

    Describe your habit

Choose your minutes a day and the days of the week you usually listen.

  3. 03

    See your date

Your finish date appears instantly, with every listening day on the calendar.

  4. 04

    Make it official

Add the finish date to your calendar, or share the plan with your book club.

How the finish date is worked out

First the time left is adjusted for speed: listening time = (length − already heard) ÷ speed. Then it is spread over your listening days at your daily minutes, starting today. The last of those days is your finish date.

Finding more listening time

  • Commutes, walks, chores and workouts add up: 20 minutes a day is over 120 hours a year.
  • Nudging your speed from 1× to 1.25× saves 12 minutes in every hour. Try the speed calculator.
  • Keep a book queued so there is never a gap between finishing one and starting the next.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

When will I finish my audiobook?

Divide the time left in the book (adjusted for your playback speed) by the minutes you listen each day, then count forward over the days you actually listen. This calculator does that and shows the exact date on a calendar.

How long does it take to finish a 10-hour audiobook?

At 30 minutes a day at normal speed, a 10-hour audiobook takes 20 days. At 1.5× it takes about 14 days, and at an hour a day at 1.5× just 7 days.

Does it count only the days I listen?

Yes. Untick days you don’t listen, such as weekends, and the plan skips them. The finish date moves out accordingly.

Can I include the part I have already listened to?

Yes. Enter the percentage you have finished, which is shown in most audiobook apps, and only the remainder is planned.

What does “Add to my calendar” do?

It downloads a small .ics file with an all-day event on your finish date, which opens in Google Calendar, Apple Calendar or Outlook. It is created on your device.
