FAQ

Questions, answered.

How do I get the chapter list out of an M4B?

Drop the M4B here. Its chapters are read straight from the file in an instant, and you can copy them as text or download them as CSV, JSON, a CUE sheet and more. Nothing is decoded and nothing is uploaded.

How do I add chapters to a YouTube video of an audiobook?

Choose the YouTube format and copy the list into the video description. YouTube needs at least three timestamps, the first at 0:00, each chapter at least 10 seconds long; the tool warns you if the list breaks one of those rules.

What is a CUE sheet?

A small text file that lists the tracks inside one long audio file, with their titles and start times. Some players, CD burning tools and audio editors read it to show or split the chapters.

Can I import the chapters into Audacity?

Yes. Choose Audacity labels, download the file, then use File › Import › Labels in Audacity. Each chapter appears as a labelled region.

Can I edit the chapter titles before exporting?

Yes, type over any title in the list. To change chapter times or write the chapters back into the file, use the chapter editor.

Is my audiobook uploaded?

No. The chapter list is read in your browser and the file never leaves your device.
