Prices last checked 22 October 2026 from Audible’s membership page (US). Audible doesn’t publish a member discount figure; 30% is the commonly reported one, so set yours.

How to use it

4 simple steps.

  1. 01

    Your plan

Monthly or yearly Premium, or what you actually paid for a deal and the credits it gave.

  2. 02

    The book

Its list price, your member discount, and a sale price if it’s on sale.

  3. 03

    The verdict

Use a credit, or pay cash and save the credit for a pricier book, with the amount you save.

  4. 04

    The rule

The list price above which a credit always wins: your shopping rule from now on.

The credit rule of thumb

A credit costs what your membership costs divided by the credits it gives. A book bought with cash costs its list price less your member discount, or its sale price. Use the credit when cash would cost more; otherwise buy the book and keep the credit. The break-even list price is your credit cost divided by (1 − your discount): on the monthly plan with a 30% discount, about $21.36.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

How much is an Audible credit worth?

What you paid for it. On the monthly Premium plan that’s $14.95 a credit; on the yearly plan $149.5 buys 12 credits, about $12.46 each. A credit buys any audiobook whatever its price, so it’s worth the most on expensive books.

When should I use a credit instead of paying cash?

When the book would cost more in cash (after your member discount or a sale) than your credit cost you. With a $14.95 credit and a 30% member discount, a credit wins on books listed above about $21.36; buy cheaper books and sale books with cash.

Do Audible credits expire?

Yes: 12 months after they’re issued, and when you cancel your membership. Spend or bank them before you cancel.

What is the member discount?

Premium members get member-only sales and discounts on audiobooks they buy with cash. Audible doesn’t publish a single figure; 30% off is the commonly reported one. Enter the price you actually see when logged in.

Is the yearly plan worth it?

If you’ll use all 12 credits, yes: each credit costs about $2.49 less than on the monthly plan. You get all the credits up front.
