Where it runs

Works in a current Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari, on Windows, Mac, Linux and Chromebook computers, Android phones, iPhones and iPads. Nothing to install, no account.

Can be installed from the browser as an app, and plays your books offline.

How to use it

4 simple steps.

  1. 01

    Open a book

Drop an M4B, M4A or MP3, or a whole folder of MP3s: they play in order as one book, with each file as a chapter.

  2. 02

    Listen

Chapters, 15 and 30 second skips, speed from 0.5× to 3×, and a sleep timer that stops after some minutes or at the end of the chapter.

  3. 03

    Bookmark

Press B to mark a moment, add a note, and export your bookmarks as text.

  4. 04

    Come back

Your place, speed and bookmarks are remembered. Install the player as an app and it works offline.

A player for the books you own

Most audiobook apps only play their own store’s books. This one plays your files: M4B audiobooks you made with the MP3 to M4B maker, DRM-free purchases, LibriVox downloads, or a folder of MP3s. Chapters come from the file itself (MP4 chapters in M4B, ID3 chapters in MP3); a folder becomes one book with a chapter per file, ordered by track number and then by name.

Where your library lives

Everything stays in this browser. Your place is saved every couple of seconds while you listen, so closing the tab costs you nothing. The audio is copied into the browser’s private file storage when there’s room, and the browser is asked to keep it; clearing site data removes it. The library is per browser and per device: it doesn’t sync.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Are my audiobooks uploaded?

No. The player plays files from your device. Your library (the books, your place in each and your bookmarks) is kept in this browser only, and nothing is sent anywhere.

Do I need to open the file again next time?

Usually not. When there’s room, the player keeps a copy of the book in your browser’s private storage, so it opens from the library without the file. If there isn’t room, your place and bookmarks are still saved: open the same file again and it carries on where you stopped.

Can I install it like an app?

Yes. In Chrome or Edge use “Install” in the address bar or menu; on Android, “Add to Home screen”; on iPhone and iPad, Share → “Add to Home Screen”. Once installed it opens on its own and works offline.

Do the lock screen and headphone buttons work?

Yes, through the Media Session API: play, pause, skip back and forward, and previous or next chapter from the lock screen, a smartwatch, headphones or the keyboard’s media keys, with the cover and chapter title shown.

Can it play Audible books?

Only DRM-free files. Protected Audible files (AAX) can’t be played here. M4B and MP3 files you made or bought DRM-free work, as do LibriVox downloads.

Which formats does it play?

M4B and M4A (AAC) and MP3 everywhere; FLAC, Ogg, Opus and WAV where your browser supports them. Chapters are read from M4B files and from MP3 ID3 chapter tags; a folder of files plays as one book.
