audiobook.tools is a set of 43 free tools and 30 guides for everyone who makes or loves audiobooks: listeners tidying their own library, narrators preparing ACX submissions, and authors planning and publishing their audio edition.
Why in the browser?
Audiobooks are big files and personal property. Uploading a 20-hour book to a server is slow and means trusting a stranger with it. Modern browsers can now do studio-grade work locally, so every tool here processes your files on your own device, with ffmpeg compiled to WebAssembly for audio and open AI models (Whisper and Kokoro) for speech. It is faster, private by design, and lets us keep the tools free. The open-source projects page credits the software we build on.
How our guides are written
- From the source. Store rules, prices and limits come from each company’s own help pages, terms or manuals, cited at the foot of every guide with a link, and dated. Where a company’s pages contradict each other, we say so rather than pick one.
- Measured, not assumed. Figures such as file sizes, loudness and timings are measured on real audiobook files with the same engine the tools use, and the guide says how.
- Kept current. Each guide shows when its facts were last checked, and we re-check them when stores change their rules.
- No affiliate links. We don’t earn a commission from any store, app or service we mention.
Spotted something out of date or wrong? Write to hello@audiobook.tools and we’ll check it against the source and correct it.
What we won’t build
Removing DRM from Audible or any other protected audiobook. It is illegal in many countries, and every tool here works only on DRM-free files: LibriVox recordings, DRM-free purchases, CDs you own and your own narration. The Audible AAX guide explains the legal ways to listen.
How it is funded
The site is supported by display ads. We keep ads away from the parts of each tool you actually use, and we never sell, see or store your files. Details are in the privacy policy.
